About Kate Sweetman

Thanks to her extensive background in research, writing, editing, speaking and executive education, Kate Sweetman understands how to translate great ideas into thought leadership.

She has worked with some of the most successful thought leaders in the world today, enjoyed some measure of success herself, and is now delighted to work with the high-caliber team at Buday TLP to take thought-leadership-as-a-business-strategy to the next level.

After receiving her BA in literature from Yale and her MBA from Harvard Business School, Kate unknowingly embarked on her own path around thought leadership simply by following her passion for working with ideas that have impact. She followed the trail of those ideas into print and other forms of media, conferences, boardrooms and classrooms.

Research-based writing is at the core of what Kate does. When she was an editor at Harvard Business Review, she worked with luminaries like Jim Collins, Ron Heifetz and Arie de Geus. She has also conducted significant research herself: She led the team that conducted a study of leadership in Asia that is still the most comprehensive research to date (spanning 18 Asian countries).

She has published two books under her own name. One, with Dave Ulrich and Norm Smallwood, has been translated into 14 languages and published by Harvard Business Publishing. She has ghostwritten two books, one of which also published by Harvard Business Publishing.

Kate has written numerous articles for publications including HBR.org, Fast Company, CEO Magazine, CLO magazine, Entrepreneur, Dialogue, Huffington Post, Sloan Management Review, Times of India, and Malaysian Edge, to name a few.

Kate has also done extensive work in executive education, having designed, developed and delivered leadership development training in over 20 countries for companies in almost every industry. She has concentrated in the industries of telecommunications (Verizon, Telekom Malaysia), finance (Goldman Sachs, ICICI Securities, Citigroup, the Central Bank of Malaysia) and pharmaceuticals (Novartis, Shire, Sunovion, Johnson & Johnson, AstraZeneca). For their work with Verizon, Kate and her team won the Association for Talent Development award for a U.S. leadership development program with highest practical impact.

She has been a keynote speaker in over 20 countries, sharing her ideas in this way with companies (Google Cloud Services, Exxon, Shire Pharmaceuticals, to name a few), industry organizations (HR, banking, pharma, retail) and governments (UAE, Colombia, Malaysia and Singapore among them).  She has appeared on CNBC in the U.S. and India, as well as on numerous podcasts and radio programs in the U.S. and overseas.Â
