New Buday TLP Documentary Series Begins to Dissect the World’s Most Influential Management Concepts

Episode 1: “The Making of Business Reengineering”

HOPKINTON, MASS., July 28, 2026 – Buday Thought Leadership Partners today unveiled the first episode of its new “Inside the Game Changers” documentary series, which examines game-changing management concepts. Episode 1 explores the most influential management idea of the 1990s: business reengineering.

The reengineering concept emerged after extensive case study research by Dr. Michael Hammer and the consultancy CSC Index in the late 1980s on how dozens of companies gained competitive advantage from the information technology of that day. The concept fueled a nearly $5 billion-a-year global market for consulting services by the mid-1990s, a bestselling book that sold in the millions of copies, a Fortune magazine cover article, and a now-classic Harvard Business Review article.

“The Making of Business Reengineering” was developed over the last six months by Buday TLP CEO Bob Buday and his son John Buday, a video and podcast producer and editor.  BudayTLP is a thought leadership strategy and training firm.

The documentary dives into the research, development, marketing and impact of reengineering. Its 41 minutes include interviews with five key players: reengineering, business analytics and AI guru Tom Davenport; former CSC Index CEO James Champy; former Index CMO Tom Waite; Brad Power, an Index reengineering consultant who worked closely with Hammer; and Susan Falzon, a researcher in the PRISM research program that Hammer and Index operated.

“Inside the Game Changers” is the first documentary series to dissect how highly popular management ideas were developed and gained traction. Our target audience includes organizations that attract clients through highly differentiated expertise: consulting, IT services, law, accounting, venture capital, private equity, investment banking, wealth management and other sectors. These firms increasingly see themselves competing on “thought leadership” – developing, marketing and delivering unique expertise.

The series will provide key lessons for thought leadership professionals in these firms – researchers, subject experts, editors, marketers and PR people. It should also be of high interest to B2B executives who are passionate about creating differentiated expertise: CEOs, heads of service innovation, chief strategy officers, CMOs, as well as industry, practice and regional leaders.

“If you believe thought leadership research and marketing are critical to your company’s success, our documentaries will let you hear from people who created and marketed some of the world’s most influential management ideas,” said Bob Buday.

The series is Buday’s latest pioneering addition to the thought leadership profession. Starting with his previous firm (Bloom Group LLC) in the 2000s, he led the first studies, webinars, training programs and conferences on thought leadership.

“There’s general agreement on the most influential management concepts over the last 40 years,” Buday says, pointing to Bain & Company’s management trend research and awards for influential management ideas by the Thinkers50 organization. “But there’s much less known about how those concepts became influential – how they were developed, marketed and turned into services. That’s what our ‘Inside the Game Changers’ documentary series will explore.”

John Buday is an independent video and podcast producer and editor, and producer of Buday TLP’s Everything Thought Leadership video + audio podcast series. “I loved the challenge of taking a highly conceptual topic, exploring what brought that concept to life, and depicting the people and processes behind its growth. We hope our audiences will enjoy the great stories behind reengineering and have a deeper understanding of how it came to be.”
